July Vocations Discussion

In July, the Community of Oblates of Jesus the Priest gathered at their motherhouse for a two-day session to listen, discuss and seek solutions to the vocation question in today’s Church. Good news: this summer, five new aspirants begin their vocational discernment process. For them, the journey begins! Please pray for all those in formation!

July 13: Special Mass Celebrated

On July 13, Eusebio Elizondo, the newly ordained auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Seattle, celebrated Mass for the Oblates at their motherhouse in Mexico City. Bishop Eusebio is a Missionary of the Holy Spirit. Their founder, Felix Rougier, MSpS, founded the Oblates of Jesus the Priest.

July 16: Juniors Renew Vows

Six Juniors renewed their vows on July 16. (See photos). Sister Carmen renewed her vows for the last time. She has been assigned to Oaxaca to work for one year with the Oblate Community in the major seminary. Next year, God willing, she will make her final vows.

Chicago Vocation Retreats

There is a retreat for Vocations for Chicago communities in Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral. The retreat happens monthly, on the first Sunday of the month. Please email or call (312) 573-4455 for more information. We'd love to see you there!

August 15: US Formation House Opens

The Oblates in the United States are taking a huge step in terms of vocations. On August 15, a house of formation will be opened in the Chicago area. Madre Guillermina and Sister Juana, both of whom have been in roles of formation in the past, are assigned to this new foundation.
