A vocation is a gift from God. It is a call to live a particular life style in today’s world. Each person receives a call from God as to how he or she should live. Married life. Single. Religious life—as a Sister or Brother. Or as a priest.

How do you hear the call or know your vocation?

You hear your call by listening to the ordinary things of life. To discern your vocation—whatever it might be—prayer, reflection and counsel are the ordinary means. Do not expect a bolt of lightening, or being knocked off your horse like Paul was on the road to Damascus. A quiet voice…a desire for a closer relationship with the Lord…a deeper concern for the people and things of God’s world.
